Midas Touch

I went campdrinking this past weekend, and had a whole lot of new beer. I’m going to try to document most of it, one beer at a time. Here we go!

Midas Touch
Midas Touch Golden Elixir by Dogfish Head

At 9% ABV, you can really taste the weight of this ale, but in an excellent way. The grapes and saffron come through subtly, and all in all, it’s an intriguing, smooth bottle of beer with a nice hint of honey sweetness.

Plus, it’ll totally get you drunk off your ass!

That sounds delicious. Are you finding the Dogfish Head beers in stores, or special ordering them? I can usually only find one or two varieties of Dogfish in the store.

It may just be that I’m lucky, but a number of good liquor stores in my area carry pretty much the whole Dogfish Head line. I’m a huge fan of it — I could drink their 60 Minute and 90 Minute IPAs all day long, and most of their other year-round beers are excellent as well

The only problem (if you can call it a problem) with Dogfish Head is that practically everything they brew sits between 6 and 9% ABV (not counting some excellent but insane specialties like the 120 Minute IPA and the Worldwide Imperial Stout which hit more like 20-21%) So, their stuff is damn tasty, but also quite alcoholic.

Either way, these guys are so far the only brewing company that has gotten me to put down over $10 for a single bottle of beer (120 Minute IPA), and I’m sure I’ll do it again for the Worldwide Stout.
